Tales from the Harbor Volume 3 Feedback

So far I've only gotten through a couple stories. The new Skolna story, which was a pleasant surprise from last volume, was really great again. I was really into Chance's take on Viking history. Which parts were made up or actual legend, I have no idea, but I didn't care- it was funny and it rang true. His way with dialogue and character is natural and easy. Skolna has a real personality. I love the art- headbanger textbook doodle style mixed with indie charm, but with competent storytelling skills. I found myself thinking not about technical issues but being really absorbed in the story, which is fantastic.
I pray to Crom he does more.

Stephen's story is really cool, and I love how unapologetically brutal and unforgiving it is. After all, it is fiction, so why not? Let 'er rip- show us how you feel, what you would do if you could. This story is a fantastic example of what you can do with comics if you have a vivid imagination. First, he doesn't let a lack of an artist stop him from doing sequential art, as with last issue, when he peppered his prose story with handy visual aids and diagrams. He actually made a Fumetti (comic w/photos) work by distorting the photos. Also, it seems to me this story is the basic superhero vigilante story (Batman) but done in a new, very realistic, uncompromising way. Nice work- it effin' kicks ass.

Agreed, Stephen's kicked ass...Very dramatic.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book so far and will try and put together a top 5 list or something.
If you can't beat 'em, arrange to have them beaten.
