Maybe it's the jetlag talking, but when I saw the "4 Mature Readers" logo on the cover, my first thought was, "Only four allowed?" :P

Kind of hypocritical that I designed that, given my penchant for trashing Internet lingo. I'd considering putting "4 Mature Readers ROTFLMAO," but thought that would really make me a hypocrite.

Yes, there are only four copies of Tales of the Harbor Volume 2 being set aside for mature readers.

Jay has crafted a reasonably elaborate test to find out who is mature and who is not. He did not want me to disclose the nature of the test and I have sworn not to violate his sacred trust in me. What I can say is that the test will involve a fart.

Actually it was supposed to represent a branding iron of sorts and is a style thing.

Some friends of mine own a ranch back in Hinton called the Bar F.

Every time I passed the ranch and saw the sign, I always read Barf and laughed to the point of tears.

I realize that has nothing to do with the comment, but I felt a compelling need to disclose that story to all of you.

But now that I've told it, you can surmise that I will not be one of the readers getting the "4 Mature Readers" edition.

Aside from effing up my story (from here on in, Jay is never again allowed to comment on my flakiness) the book looks DYNAMITE!!!
Especially love the Skolna stories!!

First off, thanks to everyone who was in the book. It definately made the 5 hour trip back to Fort Mac a little more enjoyable.

And I guess I should thank Jay. It's not like he put the book together or anything.

All and all, I loved the book. I pretty much made it though the whole book. I just couldn't make it through the Mason story and the blood line cuz it was making me sick....the bus ride, not the book. Just a couple of mentions that stuck out in my head.

Man, that One Panel Wonder, what a genius and he is such a handsome young man too. I bet he gets all the girls.........and to the real thoughts.

I loved the Lone Avenger. It's honestly, now my fav stories to look forward to.

I loved the Hobo story. Well, both hobo stories. That is also now a fav stories to look forward to.

It saddens me that a 11 year old girl can pump out more pages than me.

Overall I have to say the stories are a bit more solid this time around. More depth (and length) to them so reader's can sink their teeth in. There was some great diversity in art style from Bob's Lone Justice to Fiona's Hobo's and writing style (Stephen's Mason story probably the most unique method) that made it a joy to read.

Thanks to everyone for their submissions and here's to Vol 3! Check the site for new guidelines.

Stephen's Cautionary Tale- Fantastic. A little confusing for me as I'm not used to reading those, uh, what are they called again? Oh yeah, Books. But luckily he spiced it up with some neat, and very helpful visuals. I especially like the page concerning myths about the Freemasons, and the Eye on the Dollar Bill. Yes, a very strange coincidence indeed !
The Moral of the Story had me thinking, as well, in a more personal way. "The Laws of their Fraternity are more important than the laws of their land" could be taken to mean "just because your friends are doing it doesn't make it OK", or "you and your buddies aren't as cool as you think you are". I know that's really dumbing it down, but that's kind of how I related it to certain cliques I know of. ( Music Scene)

Come on, guys, let's hear more feedback!
I would've traded the single-page gags for another Skolna!!! (except for Matt's, but his could've been shrunk down and laid out horizontally to fit a bit better.)
Jay and Dan, I like the story and could see getting in to it, but the sudden flash forward to Eve saving the world was jarring, (drug-test-wha?) and later Mr. Ashby says she was a police officer when she got her powers- Government conspiracy or plot hole?
One thing I know Jay hates is all the faces looking the same, and Dan does a great job of personalizing each character. His art is solid. Super-Duper clean and crisp. The only thing I could criticize (and I hate when people do it, but Dan's asked my opinion before ) is I'd like to see you loosen up a bit. The figures look a little stiff. Technically flawless, though, my friend. You rule.
Would like to see more blacks thrown around to balance the compositions, and you guys could try throwing grey in the blank backgrounds, just to make the figures POP a bit. Even with the use of Black and Grey computer colouring, which usually screams amateur, it looks very nice. I'm not a fan of typeface in comics, though, just sayin'.
Overall- it looks to be a strong start from two dedicated, smart guys, and will be a story people look forward to as it builds up steam.
Wicked last panel shocker, too! Six months?

I actually had to flip back through the book to see if you were actually talking about me.

Thanx for the comment.....you might have to explain that shrink down comment though. I can't picture what you are saying cuz I thought it was horizontal and shrunk down which was the problem.

And if you weren't talking about me, pretend this msg isn't here.
